In Iraq, the U.S. military is going to build four new military bases that will have soldiers from more than 100 bases that the U.S. have occupied since the invasion of Iraq in 2003. These four new bases will look like permanent locations because the bases will require constructions of structures like “blast-proof barracks and offices”. Some people think that with the creation of these four bases, the U.S. will have a permanent presence in Iraq. Politicians that disagree with the presence of the U.S. in Iraq don’t like this plan, and people like the spokesman of Sunni Iraqi Islamic Party said that the creation of these four bases will only provoked more tension with the terrorist.
This plan doesn't have a designated deadline and the troops will establish inside “heavy fortified” air bases. There, the troops will provide support and necessities to the Iraqis. The bases will be located in south, north, centre and west of Iraq and named Tallil, Irbil, Balad, and AL Asad. The troops will establish in themselves depending on the security structures of the bases. They are also going to be placed in air fields which will give the troops supply and mobility and they will feature constructions that can resist direct fire. These bases will give troops in Iraq more security since they are located in a place that will give them support and help them with their missions, but will these bases be permanent locations for those troops? Only time will tell if this bases will be permanent establishments of the U.S.
